National Trust for Scotland to hold first local assembly in north east Scotland - 12 September 2012

The National Trust for Scotland has announced that its first local assembly will be held at Haddo House in Aberdeenshire.

The National Trust for Scotland has announced that its first local assembly, which is open to the public, will be held at Haddo House in Aberdeenshire. The event, which will be held on 12 September 2012, is the first of a series of regular events designed for anyone with an interest in Scotland's 'heritage, history and built and natural environments'.

NTS trustee Margaret Alexander said: 'Given that the North-east has the highest concentration of members and Trust properties, it is important that everyone here takes this opportunity to learn more about what the Trust is doing locally and nationally and have their say on their heritage. We have put together an eclectic programme which covers subjects as diverse as exciting archaeological discoveries we have made in the area, the vision for Mar Lodge Estate and local arts and culture.

'There is also the promise of a talk from the ever-entertaining Cameron Taylor with the highly intriguing title "the strange case of the leg and the ledger – North-east departures and homecomings".

The event is open to both NTS members and members of the public and runs from 11am with free entry (£8 charge for lunch). To book a place, tel: 0844 493 2100 or send an e-mail. For more information on the local assemblies, visit the National Trust for Scotland website. Venue: Haddo House, Methlick, Ellon AB41 7EQ.
