Scottish archaeology - Council for British Archaeology Placement opportunities 2012

Scottish archaeology - The Council for British Archaeology has revealed details of its placement scheme for 2012.

The Council for British Archaeology is offering twelve-month paid bursary opportunities at twelve host organisations across Scotland, England and Wales. The scheme is aimed at anyone who wishes to develop a career in archaeology and who is interested in working directly with communities and particularly young people.

The Community Archaeology Bursary Placements (CATPs) are aimed specifically at providing training to individuals who already have a good working knowledge of archaeological theory and techniques and who are keen to develop their skills for utilisation in their future career to enhance relationships between the archaeological profession and a wide range of communities. In particular, this round will focus on developing youth engagement. The bursaries are funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund through its Skills for the Future programme, with support from English Heritage, Cadw and Historic Scotland.

Scotland's host organisations are Archaeology Scotland (Musselburgh) and The SCAPE Trust (St Andrews). Each bursary is worth c£16,450. Closing date for applications is 19 August 2012. To download an application pack, visit the Council for British Archaeology website.
